MorganaRebecca B.In the television series Merlin, Morgana is the biological daughter of King Uther Pendragon. At the beginning of the series Morgana didn't know she was a sorceress even though she had prophetic nightmares. By the end of the series Morgana kills Uther and attempts to kill Arthur and Merlin (Emrys) because she feels they are a danger to her kind. While as misguided as her plans were, they were (in her mind, at least) for the right reasons.

Chapter 4
Re-socialization - the process of replacing previously learned norms and values with new ones as a part of a transition in life. (page 115)
When Morgana meets her half-sister, Morgause, she goes from being Uther's loving ward to his mortal enemy. Morgana is re-socialized by Morgause to believe that Uther and Arthur are threats and learns the dark ways of magic. When Morgause dies, Morgana once again re-socializes herself to be vengeful and alone.
Chapter 6
Deviance - a behavior, trait, belief, or other characteristic that violates a norm and causes a negative reaction. (page 153)
In Camelot, under Uther's reign and later Arthur's, magic is forbidden and punishable by death. Morgana was born a sorceress and she later becomes a high priestess of the old religion. When Uther finds out about her magic he revults but refuses to kill his beloved daughter. Arthur however tries to kill her several times for what she is. Her magic is a deviance.
Chapter 8
Prejudice - an idea about the characteristics of a group that is applied to all members of that group and is unlikely to change regardless of the evidence against it. (page 222)
Uther has a prejudice against sorcery because his wife died giving birth to Arthur and Arthur was conceived because of magic. Morgana has a prejudice against the druids and other sorcerers at the beginning of the series because she was raised to think that way but after meeting Mordred, a young druid boy, she gains a prejudice against Uther for wanting the boy dead. When she learns she has magic, her prejudice grows to hate everyone who hates her kind.
Chapter 10
Monarchy - a government ruled by a king or queen, with succession of rulers kept within the family. (page 282)
Camelot is ruled by the Pendragon family. Morgana sees herself to be the rightful heir of Camelot because she is Uther's eldest, however she is neither male nor legitimate so her claim to the throne is feeble. She fights to be the queen of Camelot so that her kind can flourish inside Camelot rather then cower and hide.
Chapter 12
Custody - the physical and legal responsibility of caring for children; assigned by a court for divorced or unmarried parents. (page 365)
While there are no courts in medieval Camelot, Uther has custody of Morgana, when her adoptive father dies. Why Morgana's mother never claims her, is never said.
